CityCenter Hosts Thumbs Up Thursday Featuring Big Nazo

On Thursday, Aug. 13th the CityCenter Green will be invaded by giant go-go dancing monsters, mischievous mountain trolls, bizarre extra-terrestrials, and hilarious human-animal hybrids!

No, it's not a scene for a new sci-fi movie. It's the kickoff for a new free family fun addition to Danbury's downtown summer concert series - Thumbs Up Thursday! And, getting things off to a wild start is the world famous, galactic masked-mutant musicians of Big Nazo.

The genre-shifting rock and roll band from Providence, RI performs Thursday, Aug. 13th at 7 pm on CityCenter Danbury Green. The larger than life creatures take turns invading the stage - and the audience - while pumping out a creature dance party groove.

Big Nazo is an international performance group of visual artists, puppet performers and masked musicians who unite to create bizarre and hilarious larger-than-life sized characters, environments, and spectacles. Renegade circus family contortionists, a rowdy rodeo horse, a giant three-eyed robot percussionist, break-dancing police officers, Mountain Trolls, a charismatic lab rat and his giant man-eating chia pet are just a few of the characters that create an irreverent musical Commedia full of irresolvable conflict, ridiculous dancing and an epic battle with the forces of chaos. Their innovative mask and puppetry techniques combine stand-up comedy, Sci-Fi, daredevil stunts, soap opera hysterics, professional wrestling with live rock music and audience-interactive improvisation.

"Thumbs Up Thursday!" is an evening of entertainment designed to appeal to the children in all of us. A suggested donation of $2 is welcomed, $5 per family. Parking is available at the Patriot Garage at 21 Delay Street (adjacent to the Green) and the Bardo Garage, nearby at 10 Library Place off Main Street.
