Celebrate Music of BB King + Ray Charles

On Friday, August 7, The Palace Danbury Theatre will celebrate the music of BB King and Ray Charles with a great big night of Rock, Roll, R&B and Soul.

The night will showcase all-star performances by Claudette King (daughter of BB King), Sheila Raye Charles (daughter of Ray Charles), along with Jeff Pitchell, Charles Neville, and Michael Allman.

Claudette King is the youngest daughter of blues master BB King. Trained in the gospel of the Baptist church from age 13, King’s mighty mentors include Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Chaka Khan, Mavis Staples, & Mahalia Jackson.

Sheila Raye Charles is the daughter of the legendary R&B musician Ray Charles. This inspiring singer/songwriter began her musical career at age 19. An ordained Christian minister, Sheila knows first-hand the redemptive power of music.

Guitar virtuoso Jeff Pitchell has long cited B.B. King as one of his main influences and one of the reasons he first picked up a guitar. This award winning guitarist/singer/songwriter blends Stevie Ray Vaughan, BB King, and Jimi Hendrix experiences with his own soulful, superb vocals. Jeff was voted “Best Guitarist” and “Best Band” in Connecticut as well as “Best Blues Show” in New England.

Grammy Award-winner Charles Neville is a member of the legendary Neville Brothers music dynasty, aka The First Family of Funk, with gold and platinum records from six different countries. He began playing the saxophone more than six decades ago. While still in his teens, he toured with BB King, Ray Charles, Jimmy Reed, and James Brown. This Tai Chi Master is known for his ethereal performances and bluesy improvisations, with musical styles that includes funk, jazz, R&B, and more.

Michael Allman looks and sounds like his father, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Gregg Allman, but also has his own distinctive style of Southern Rock and Blues. He performs his original music as well as some of the Allman Brothers greatest hits.

The show starts at 8 pm. Reserved seating only. All tickets cost $40. Tickets may be purchased online at www.thepalacedanbury.com, by telephone at 203-794-9944 between 1 pm - 5 pm daily, and at the box office starting one hour before showtime.
