CT Premiere of Paul Newman Racing Documentary At The Palace Danbury

Paul Newman was an award-winning actor, generous philanthropist, and passionate race car driver. A documentary chronicling his relentless drive to become a championship-caliber driver will have it's Connecticut premier at The Palace Danbury on Friday, June 12th at 8pm.

The movie, “Winning: The Racing Life of Paul Newman", was produced and directed by comedian and car enthusiast Adam Carolla. Newman didn't start racing until he was forty-seven years old and his passion for racing was so intense it nearly sidelined his acting career. Although he wasn’t very good when he started out, Carolla's documentary focuses on how Newman got bitten by the racing bug and eventually became a world class driver.

“Winning” features archival footage of Newman racing as well as interviews with show business colleagues including Tom Cruise, Robert Redford, Patrick Dempsey, Robert Wagner, and Joanne Woodward. Famed racers Mario Andretti, Michael Andretti, Dick Barbour, Bob Sharp, and Sam Posey also appear in the film.

Robert Redford, Newman’s close friend and Butch and the Sundance Kid co-star said there never was a contest between acting and driving for Newman. “He wasn’t divided between the two — film would always come in second to racing.”

Paul Newman died Sept. 26, 2008 at age 83 and was posthumously inducted into the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) Hall of Fame a year later.

The film is unrated with a running time of 83 minutes. All tickets cost $15. Tickets may be purchased online at www.thepalacedanbury.com, by telephone at (203) 794-9944 between 1pm - 5pm daily, or at the box office starting one hour before showtime.
