Get Cooking At Two Steps

A glass of wine, some good food and a little socializing - that sounds like a nice Wednesday evening to us. And that’s exactly what you get at a Two Steps cooking class. Plus, you might just learn a thing or two.

Tom Devine, owner of Two Steps, recently invited Alicia and I to attend one of his cooking classes. It was an offer we couldn’t refuse.

The classes are quite popular. Of the 40 or so people there, many of them are repeat customers. The two couples we sat with that evening received gift certificates for cooking classes as a gift at the holidays, and one large group of people was there as part of a birthday celebration.

Tom demonstrated four recipes that evening: Fresh Sea Scallops Crudo, Eggplant and White Bean Tapas, Fresh Chilean Sea Bass with Linguica and Clams, and a Slow Roasted Prim Rib with Chimichurri Sauce, Paprika Potatoes and Roasted Cauliflower. We also learned tips on how to select fresh seafood and what to look for in selecting cuts of beef. After demonstrating each recipe, the staff served each of us a sample of the dish.

It was more of a watch, learn, and have fun sort of evening rather than actively doing something. But, even though you don’t actually have to cook anything at the class, you will walk away with recipes and tips on how to do it yourself. All in all, it was a fun night out and a great excuse to enjoy good food and drink while making new friends.

Classes usually are held on select Wednesday nights from 7pm to 9pm.
