25 Years of First Night Danbury

This year marks the 25th anniversary of First Night, Danbury’s New Year’s Eve celebration. With the theme of “Make New Friends, Keep The Old,” this family-friendly, alcohol-free event takes over various CityCenter spots on Dec. 31st from 5 to 9 pm.

In honor of the auspicious anniversary, this year welcomes back many of the past acts that have made the event so memorable. The area’s own internationally renowned flutist Sherry Winston will be performing and there will be an appearance by Mrs. CT. Having first performed at the 2008 First Night, the local dancer/performing artist Adelka Polak will once again join the festivities. And, First Night is sure to be magical with not one but two magicians – Lee Winters Magic and Peter Samelson. Plus, we’ve heard that there are plans for quite an unforgettable closing act to this year’s fun.

To catch all the downtown festivities, all you need to do is purchase a First Night button for $10. They are on sale now at the CityCenter Office on Main Street or you can go online to www.citycenterdanbury.com.

Family & Children’s Aid, All About Kids Pediatric Dentistry, and the Danbury Cultural Commission sponsor First Night Danbury, with additional support provided by Union Savings Bank, Ventura, Ribeiro & Smith, Danbury Parking Authority and the City of Danbury, as well as generous local businesses and individuals.
