One of our favorite things to do on a Friday in the summer is visit to the Danbury Farmers’ Market.
This year, the market’s opening also marked the opening of the newly revamped Kennedy Park.

Financed though city bonds to the sum of $275,000, the transformed area now features decorative walkways, landscaped islands and ornamental fencing. Plus, electrical service was brought in to the park specifically for use by the farmers’ market. The market is open every Friday, 11am to 5pm, through Halloween, October 31.

This year's vendors include:
And, Dean's Greens - a smoothie/juice food truck based out of Georgetown, CT. Dean's Greens promotes one simple message, "Eat more greens and thrive!" Their mission is to serve, feed the public, educate and inspire where necessary. They travel to local farmer's markets, special events, farm stands and anywhere else, serving delicious, made to order Superfood Smoothies and Cold Pressed Juices. And, let me tell you, they are really good!
The Danbury Farmers’ Market:
- Offers matching up to $9 per week the value of government food assistance programs;

Makes bus passes available through HARTransit to those who need a ride home.
Plus, this year marks the launch of a matching voucher program for low-income veterans, a pilot project of the Connecticut Department of Agriculture and the only program of its kind in the country. A local philanthropist and ongoing Market supporter, in addition to a generous donation, has offered to match dollar-for-dollar contributions up to $6,300.
We love the market and the new and improved Kennedy Park. Hope to see you there.Labels: danbury, downtown
