The best thing for a dreary, extremely rainy day is a big,
hearty lunch. Nothing makes you feel better than some comfort food. Or, maybe
that’s just our excuse to take a leisurely lunch and people watch.
Our recent spot of choice for just such an occasion was Los
Andes on Main Street. We sat at our favorite table, right in the front window
and ordered a lunch that was big enough to qualify as a feast. Both Alicia and I ordered the Bandeja Ecuatoriana. It’s an amazing platter of pork ribs, thin steak, fried chicken
thigh, rice, beans, avocado, onion salad and sweet plantains. Needles to say,
we didn’t need to eat dinner that night. It’s filling, delicious and a great
price. Oh, and although we didn’t order them this time, we highly recommend the
tostones.
The service is always friendly too. They don’t rush you,
letting you enjoy your meal and conversation. We looked out the window watching
people dash to and fro trying to avoid the raindrops. You know a rainy day in
the city is still a good day, full of hustle and bustle.
As luck would have it, we even ran into our friend Bill from
Escape To The Arts. He filled us in on all the amazing things they have going
on there. We need to pay them a visit, but that’s another post for another
time.
