Baseball and Art

As little kid I played Little League baseball, even a little Babe Ruth baseball, until I got too old for it to be cool anymore. Even though I stopped playing, I never stopped being a fan of the game. I'll never forget going to my first baseball game at Yankee Stadium. There is nothing like the moment when I saw the field for the first time.

When I found out there was a local art exhibit celebrating baseball at The Gallery at Still River Editions, I knew it was the perfect way to usher in another baseball season.

Ball Players is a solo exhibition of drawings by Chris Durante, owner of Chris Durante Framing Studio on Library Place in downtown Danbury. Chris is a life-long baseball fan and his exhibit highlights the characters of past, present, real and imaginary that inhabit the "cathedrals of baseball". I especially love the stylized look of each "player".

The exhibit goes until May 31 and if you're a baseball fan definitely stop in and check it out. The gallery is located at 128 East Liberty Street in Danbury and is open from 8:30am to 5pm Monday through Friday.

The Gallery at Still River Editions has hosted national and regional photographers and artists. The Gallery's mission is to show traditional and digital photographs and fine artwork, and to be a center of creativity and connection in the Danbury area.
