Galeria Súbita

This Saturday we visited Galeria Súbita, a pop-up gallery by The Arts Network of Danbury (AND) in downtown Danbury. ‘Galeria Súbita’, means “Sudden Gallery” in Portuguese. We think it's kind of a nice way to reflect a little of the multi-cultural vibe of the downtown.

The exhibit features photography, painting, mixed media, and sculpture by AND members and local artists. The gallery is located at 262 Main Street and is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from 12noon to 4pm until January 27, 2013.

What's really cool, is that Mark Nolan of Nolan Enterprises, a Danbury area real estate company, generously donated the space to AND for the gallery. Thumbs up! Hopefully this inspires other building owners in downtown to do the same.

The way we see it. A few art galleries draws people. More people brings a need for lunch and coffee spots, which brings small businesses to downtown which helps the local economy. Naively optimistic? Maybe, but that's just us.

The Arts Network of Danbury (AND) is a think tank of Danbury area artists, arts and culture businesses, and institutions.
